Abstract Sculpture: Organic form
A four-week hand building class focused on generating organic forms and symmetry. Luke has a unique technique which is an elaboration of the “pinch pot” (the most simple ceramic technique), and uses this primitive approach to ceramics to generate complex and delicate structures.
Course Details
You will be first be taught to make smaller simpler pieces, and then to make larger hollow forms and also to combine smaller objects to make complex structures which can be successfully fired.
You will be shown prescriptive techniques but also encouraged to find your own voice through the clay and work in an experimental and exploratory way. Through this you will gain an understanding of the material, then using that to generate ceramic sculpture.
