Two Day Glaze Workshop
The purpose of this workshop is to provide practical experience of glaze making, giving students a basic knowledge of how to make their own glazes, a bit of theory, exploration of different methods of glaze application and how to troubleshoot glaze problems.
Programme:
Day 1
• Introduction to workshop, health and safety and glaze materials
• Separate into 4 groups each group choosing a base glaze (shiny, matt, satin or volcanic)
• Make the base glaze and from that make several glazes by addition of the colourants. Can make both dip and brush-on. Dip tiles into new glazes and put in kiln.
• Lunch
• Introduction to glaze theory
Day 2
• troubleshooting glaze problems
• Methods of applications
• Lunch
• Open kiln and review each groups glazes
• Recommendations for further learning
