Sunday Botanical Drawing & Ink Workshop
Inspired by the work of Sarah Graham
Join us for a relaxed and inspiring Sunday workshop, where we’ll be exploring botanical drawing and painting using both graphite and inks, referencing the bold, illustrative works of artist Sarah Graham. The day follows the same gentle rhythm as Sophie’s previous Sunday workshops, with a morning and afternoon studio session breaking for an hour’s lunch at the local farmer’s market, right on our doorstep.
Morning session- 10-12.30pm
Lunch 12.30-1.30pm
Afternoon session- 1.30-4pm
A full-day drawing workshop exploring line, tone, and colour through expressive botanical studies.
In the morning session, we’ll be working from fresh flowers, creating soft graphite botanical drawings using a range of pencils. We’ll focus on simple shapes, zooming in on flower heads and details, working on large sheets of paper to build beautifully observed drawings rich in tone and subtle texture. This session is about slowing down, looking closely, tuning in our hand, eye coordination and enjoying the calm, thoughtful process of drawing.
After lunch, Sophie will walk you through how to apply ink washes and fine detailing, adding colour, energy, and vibrancy to your work. Studying the flowers around us, we’ll explore approaches inspired by Sarah Graham’s ink drawings, while also allowing plenty of room for your own artistic licence and experimentation.
This Sunday workshop promises a playful day of discovering new skills, creative expression and explorative making.
Maximum 8 Students. The course fee includes all materials.
