Two day “Dolce Vita“ Fashion illustration course

Illustrate a fashion campaign based on the fictional characters, Benedetta Bonscampi and Giorgio di Magnifico. In 1959, Benedetta took Rome by storm with her keen sense of fashion, and her reckless pursuit of the much sought after bachelor, Giorgio di Magnifico. Together, they made history and created a scandal that was documented in depth by the Paparazzi of the time.

In this workshop, you will be given reference with examples of what Benedetta and Giorgio wore and where they socialized. You will learn about the top designers in post war Rome and research a time in history when the streets of Rome were awash with prosperity and enthusiasm.

What you will do:

  • You will begin by creating a mood board that helps to breath personality into each character.

  • You will practice sketching your characters and learn about expression and proportions.

  • You will learn how to illustrate detail and folds in clothing using pen & ink and watercolour.

  • You will create an illustrated fashion campaign that visually communicates not just the brands that each character is wearing, but also their personalities.

  • You will escape into a time when the world was bursting with promise and creativity.

Materials:

You will be provided with everything you need. Please bring a sketchbook, pencils, watercolours, and coloured pencils if you have them.
