In this workshop, you will create a folded pop-up garden using vibrant coloured inks and watercolours. Learn how to plan a project and create a three-dimensional design. Explore the art of visual storytelling by infusing your garden with hidden creatures and brightly painted pop-up flowers. Be inspired from the allotment, and Duke’s Meadows, located just outside our studio.

What you will do:

-           Gather inspiration by sketching what surrounds our studio.

-           Look at examples of illustrated gardens and pictures of gardens and flowers that you will use as additional reference.

-            Create a rough sketch of your intentions and decide what you would like to use as a backdrop and what you would like to pop up.

-           Learn how to make a simple fold-out pop-up mechanism

-           Create a paper mock- up of your design with a sketch.

-           Learn how to use coloured ink and watercolour.

-           Take home a folded pop-up summer garden.

Materials:

You will be provided with everything you need. Please bring a sketchbook, pencils, watercolours, and coloured pencils if you have them.
