Only clay from ChiswickPots may be used. If you wish a specific clay to be stocked please request.
Store work only on your own allotted shelf.
Glaze work within two weeks of bisque firing.
Pick up your finished work within two weeks.
Do not dispose of any clay down a sink.
Splash pans and tools to be cleaned up at the wheel. Put any usable clay from the splash pans in the appropriate reclaim plaster batts. Put liquid slops into the reclaim bucket. Then wash the splash pan at the sink or at the bucket of water by the wheel.
Label the plastic covering work in progress with your name and the date.
Write your name on your own tools and clay.
Dispose of broken pottery and shards safely.
Only use the portable spray booth for glazing outside. Please ask Roz for instructions if you wish to use it.
Work cleanly: clean the work surface directly after wedging or rolling out clay or glazing. Do not let it dry out. Use a clean microfibre cloth: this prevents clay dust (silica) which is a known respiratory hazard.
Please ensure suitable clean clothing is worn for all sessions. Aprons must be cleaned after each session: this is because the dried clay on the apron will aerosolize and breathed in not only by the wearer but also by other people using the studio.
Any equipment used must be cleaned and put away in its proper place after use.
Members must clean-up their workspaces, wheels, tables, mirrors, walls and tools at the end of each use within their allotted time. It is essential that all surfaces (wheels, mirrors, walls etc.) are wiped down and the floor is mopped with a clean mop and clean water (clean mop heads and microfibre cloths are stored on the shelf next to the sink).
If you bring your own aprons and wish to store them, they must fit on your shelf. Once used they must be taken home and washed.
If you use the studio tea towels/cloths please wash properly and hang to dry after each session.
Members cannot invite friends/family to sit in and observe. No-one but the member is allowed into the studio.
