24th April Beginners: Practical exercises for a better drawing. Materials: A3 quality drawing paper, graphite pencils from H to 3B

Improvers 1st and 2nd groups: Plaster casts drawing. A2 format, pencils

 

1st May Beginners: Creating Depth: handling a three-dimensional drawing.

Materials: A3 quality drawing paper, graphite pencils from H to 3B

Improvers 1st and 2nd groups: Plaster casts drawing continued

 

8th May Beginners: Space and Tone continued: improving your composition skills on larger drawing. Materials: A2 quality drawing paper, graphite pencils from H to 3B

Improvers 1st and 2nd groups: Drawing human head. Model. A2 format

 

15th May Beginners: Space and Tone continued: the same drawing – creating depth using full tonal range. Hatching skills

Improvers 1st and 2nd groups: Drawing human head cont. The same model

 

22nd May Beginners: From the general to the particular: Drawing oil lamp. A3 format and pencils.

29th May Half Term

 

5th JuneBeginners: From the general to the particular: Drawing oil lamp continued.

Improvers 1st and 2nd groups: Studying structure and overall appearance of an animal. Drawing from the model.

Materials: A3 format and pencils

 

12th June Both groups. The Art of Linocut. Process and Patterns.

Materials: Pullingers Linocut Taster Kit (or similar), Schmincke Aqua Linoprint 35ml black or brown colour, Zest-It cleaning solution, several sheets A4 printing paper, a big spoon (or baren), sketch book, pencil, apron, kitchen towel.

 

19th June The Art of Linocut continued. History: From Wallpaper to Expressionism. Sketching out your idea and starting work on the cutting block.

Materials: see above, plus your sketchbook and pencils

 

26th June The Art of Linocut continued. Working on your block and hand printing the result.

 

3rd July Both groups: Sketching outdoors.

Materials: Carbothello pencils brown and white (for highlighting), A3 neutral tone pastel paper (couple of sheets), A4 sketch book, soft pencils, stanley knife to sharpen your instruments, lightweight board and lightweight stool to sit.

 

10th July Both groups. Making a Detailed Flower Study. Materials: Graphite pencils and A3 good quality drawing paper.

17th July Both groups. Sketching outdoors. Allotments – plants and trees.
