Ian Ellis
Painting and Drawing
Ian has over 35 years of teaching experience in London art schools, including Putney School of Art and Sutton College.
He was awarded a Master’s Degree in Painting from The University of Manchester and a BA (Hons) Degree in Painting from Coventry University.
Ian’s work has been exhibited in major art galleries across the UK, including a solo exhibition at the Mappin Art Gallery in Sheffield. He received several awards including Leeds Art Gallery in the Henry Moore Gallery, where he was awarded First Prize for his painting in the exhibition New Art in Yorkshire. Ian’s work has also been included in two Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions (and he is currently shortlisted for this year Exhibition 2026).
Ian has also developed a unique colour-mixing system, recognised by the Intellectual Property Office, which helps students gain a clearer understanding of colour mixing. The knowledge behind this system has contributed significantly to his successful YouTube channel.
