Building Confidence At the Wheel…
For potters with some wheel experience, this 5-week course strengthens throwing technique and control, introduces trimming, and explores the studio’s glaze range through supervised glazing of finished work, building confidence for the next level.
This course is designed for potters who already have some experience at the wheel — typically having completed a minimum of six throwing sessions — but who don’t yet feel confident enough to move into an intermediate-level course.
What the course covers
Strengthening core throwing technique and wheel control
Improving consistency and confidence when throwing
Making simple functional forms with better proportion
Trimming techniques and clean finishing
Glazing: exploring the studio’s glaze range by glazing finished thrown pieces, with supervision
Beginners Plus provides a supportive, structured space to strengthen technique, improve consistency, and build confidence, without the pace or expectations of an intermediate class.
Who this course is for
This course is ideal for students who:
have some experience throwing but feel inconsistent or unsure
want more repetition and guidance before moving up a level
would benefit from a calm, confidence-building bridge between beginner and intermediate courses
