Beginners’ Art Clubs

Our Beginners’ Art Club programme is refreshed every term with new adventures, drawing on Trisha's notable career as an artist and illustrator.

Each week will see you finding your talent with pencils, watercolours, inks, charcoal, acrylics, pastels, collage, portraiture, life drawing and more.

There are always new surprises, and often amazing results.

Not only is this a welcoming social space, it is also a real grounding in the essential skills needed to start making your own art work.

A thoroughly enjoyable creative escape at Chiswick Art School Beginners’ Art Club.

I’ve been attending Chiswick Art School Art Club since January 2024, and it has quickly become a much-loved part of my week. It’s a warm, welcoming environment, filled with laughter, conversation, and chocolate biscuits, tea, coffee, and mellow music to keep the mood just right!

Our teacher, Trisha, is absolutely wonderful—not only is she a kind and encouraging presence, but she’s also a truly talented art educator. Each session begins with insights into famous artists and techniques, and we’ve explored a wide range of media, including watercolour, acrylics, linoprint, collage, pastel, pen and ink, and more. We’ve taken inspiration from artists like Hockney and Monet, dabbled in abstraction, life drawing, to mention just a few, and an ever-expanding list of creative challenges.

I hadn’t done art since I was 11, so I felt a bit daunted at first. But that fear quickly gave way to enjoyment. Some weeks I’m really pleased with what I produce, and other times less so—but the process is always fun, rewarding, and full of encouragement from Trisha and the wonderful group I’m learning with.

If you’re looking for a creative outlet in a relaxed, supportive setting, I can’t recommend Chiswick Art School highly enough. It’s been a genuinely enlightening experience and one I look forward to every week.
